Introduction

ʿIlm Arena ("the App") is operated by ʿIlm Works ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the ʿIlm Arena mobile application and our website at ilmarena.com.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those services. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.

Profile Information. Your display name, quiz preferences, and daily goal settings.

Payment Information. When you subscribe to Premium, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not directly collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account details, or other financial information. Apple provides us with a transaction confirmation, subscription status, and a tokenized identifier only.

Support Communications. If you contact us at support@ilmarena.com or hello@ilmarena.com, we retain the content of your messages to respond and improve our service.

Ask ʿIlm AI Interactions. When you use the Ask ʿIlm AI feature, the questions you submit are processed to generate responses. Conversations may be retained to improve the accuracy and safety of the AI assistant. We do not use these conversations to identify you or to train third-party general-purpose AI models.

Information Collected Automatically

Quiz and Performance Data. Your quiz scores, accuracy percentages, XP earned, streak data, Sanad Cards earned, category performance, and ranking information. This data is essential to the core functionality of the App.

Usage Data. How frequently you use the App, which features you access, quiz completion rates, session duration, and interaction patterns. This helps us improve the App experience.

Device Information. Device type, operating system version, screen resolution, and language settings. We do not collect unique device identifiers for advertising purposes.

Local Storage Data. The App stores quiz progress, preferences, and performance data locally on your device. This data remains on your device unless you create an account, at which point it syncs to our servers.

Information We Do NOT Collect

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely for the following purposes:

Provide the Service. Deliver quizzes, track your scores, calculate XP, maintain streaks, generate Sanad Cards, and operate Ask ʿIlm AI.

Personalization. Recommend categories based on your performance, identify areas to improve, and tailor your learning experience.

Account Management. Authenticate your identity, manage your subscription, and sync your progress across devices.

Communication. Respond to support requests, send subscription-related notifications (trial expiration, payment confirmations), and deliver optional streak reminders if you have enabled notifications.

Improvement. Analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to improve quiz content, app features, and user experience. Improve the safety and accuracy of the Ask ʿIlm AI feature.

We do NOT use your information for:

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

Payment Processor. Apple (via StoreKit) processes subscription payments. Apple receives only the information necessary to complete the transaction.

Authentication Providers. If you sign in with Google or Apple, those services verify your identity. We receive only your name and email.

Hosting and Infrastructure. Our backend services and audio content are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure including Cloudflare. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. They do not independently use your data.

AI Service Providers. The Ask ʿIlm AI feature uses Anthropic's API to generate responses. Arabic and English audio is synthesized using Google and OpenAI text-to-speech services. These providers process content under their respective enterprise data terms and do not use your data to train their consumer-facing models.

Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Business Transfers. If ʿIlm Works is acquired, merged, or transfers assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Aggregated Data. We may share anonymized, aggregated statistics (such as "85% of users answered this question correctly") for research or content improvement. This data cannot identify any individual.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We implement the following security measures:

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

Active Accounts. We retain your data for as long as your account is active.

Deleted Accounts. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.

Subscription Records. Transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

Access. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Correction. Request correction of inaccurate data.

Deletion. Request deletion of your account and associated data. Contact support@ilmarena.com with the subject line "Delete My Account."

Data Portability. Request your data in a machine-readable format by contacting us at support@ilmarena.com.

Opt-Out of Communications. You can disable streak reminders and optional notifications at any time through your device notification settings.

Withdraw Consent. You may stop using the App at any time. If you signed in with Google or Apple, you can revoke the App's access through your Google or Apple account settings.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@ilmarena.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, California, or another region with applicable privacy laws, you may have additional rights including the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection regulator.

Children's Privacy

ʿIlm Arena is an educational application suitable for users of all ages. The content is Islamic educational material appropriate for families.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@ilmarena.com and we will promptly delete such information.

Users aged 13–17 may use the App. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's app usage.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations in other jurisdictions.

Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies and local storage only for functionality purposes (saving quiz progress, preferences, and authentication tokens).

We do not use:

International Users

ʿIlm Arena is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
